The Original Federalist Papers:
The Federalist Papers were a series of essays written by James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and John Jay. These 3 men worked tirelessly to justify the necessity and effectiveness of a new Constitution. Throughout this series of essays, they countered numerous arguments against the ratification of the Constitution and explain exactly how the Constitution is to put restraints against the Government and prevent tyranny.
Our Founding Fathers were very meticulous in their efforts to not only secure liberty, but to also ensure that tyranny never return. Our newly formed Government under the Articles of Confederation was very inefficient, and those in favor of the Constitution sought to solidify the Rights of the People, Common Defense of the Union, and promote the Domestic Tranquility within the Union.
The reason our founding fathers saw a necessity in our new Constitution, was to strengthen the Central Government just enough to establish an effective system of governance. They placed many limitations against the Government to still ensure that only powers enumerated to the Federal Government could be acted upon. Any powers NOT enumerated in the Constitution belonged to the States.
In addition to the Original Federalist Papers by Madison, Hamilton, and Jay, there were many others who wrote essays, gave speeches and debated in support of the new Constitution. We intend to have these resources added in due time, with more information on these sources.
